Being Part of God's Family Means
Recognizing our need for a living relationship with our eternal Father who created us in His image for an exciting purpose in this world. Due to our disobedience and rebellion we have gone our own way and found life confusing, unfulfilling, and often meaningless."All we like sheep have gone astray, we have each gone our own way." (Is. 53:6)
"All of us have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God." (Rom. 3:23)
Recognizing that God loves us and sent His Son Jesus to reconcile us to Himself. Jesus demonstrated His love for us by dying on the cross for our sins, and demonstrated His power over sin and death by being raised from the grave on the third day.
"God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself." (II Cor. 5:19)
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
Recognizing that the gift of eternal life can be ours by personally accepting Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives (as our director and guide).
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life." (Rom. 6:23)
Jesus can save us from destroying our lives and the lives of others around us and can lead us to the full life He intended for us.
"To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)
Jesus says: "I have come that you may have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
Recognizing that we can become children of God by confessing our sins, accepting His forgiveness, and making Jesus the Lord of our life. Jesus says:
"I am here... I stand at the door of your life and knock: if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with Me." (Rev 3:20)
"If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)
You can be part of God's family right now by faith through this prayer. Simply say to Him:
"Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Enable me to give You control of my life so I can become the person You want me to be. Amen."
