The First Baptist Church of Calgary Foundation's mission is to financially support God's work at the First Baptist Church of Calgary, Alberta.

The FBC Foundation (The Foundation) exists to fund certain ministries of First Baptist Church. Its mandate is to receive various kinds of monetary gifts and manage them for the long-term benefit of the church. The Foundation has two funds to which a person can direct his or her gift or, if they want, can split the gift between the two funds as they see fit.

First Baptist Church Foundation Infrastructure Fund

This fund (Infrastructure Fund) recognizes the heritage of the church by providing monetary grants to support capital improvements and facility upgrades that enhance the church ministries for the growth of God's kingdom.

First Baptist Church Foundation Ministry Fund

This fund (Ministry Fund) provides monetary grants to support ministries of the church that are not generally supported through normal church tithing. Gifts may be designated to, and Grants provided from categories such as: Evangelism and Outreach, Christian Education and Leadership Development, Enhanced Worship and Music, and Human Betterment. Grants from this fund are to change people's lives and have long-term impact.

Investment Objectives for Each Fund

The long-term investment objectives of the Foundation are:

  • Preserve the capital of the fund.
  • Generate an average return on market value from which the Foundation funds grants.
  • Increase the value of the fund.

The minimum target rate of return is 8½% annually on the fund market value. This should be sufficient to support a spending policy rate of 5%, provide an inflation provision of 3% and allow ½% for growth.

Forms for Requesting Funds for Wills and Changes to Wills (Codicils)

The Foundation will provide funds to help congregants with the preparation of their wills. Please click on the link below called "Expense Claim Form"  to print off a copy of the form to submit for a claim for these funds. Please submit the completed form to Steve Lemp. There is also a form called "Codicils" which provides examples for changes to wills. Please click on "Codicils" to see these examples.
