Rehearsals

Acclamation, the senior handbell choir, is for adults with strong musical experience.  Under the leadership of Joan Schaufele, this choir practices challenging level 3-5 music each Thursday evening in the Underwood Room from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  Despite hard work, we have a lot of fun together.  We perform at our 10:00 a.m. worship service the third Sunday of each month, at the annual Calgary Lilac Festival and at a Christmas musical extravaganza in mid-December each year.  For more information, please contact Joan directly at (403) 254-1190.

Bookings

Acclamation is happy to perform at outside venues.  Previous venues have included Lougheed House,  U of C Rosza Centre Christmas concert, seniors' residences, elementary schools, hospices and shopping malls.  If you are interested in booking this group, please contact Joan Schaufele at (403) 254-1190.

Handbell & Organ Concert

Both handbell choirs of First Baptist Church (Acclamation and Tintinaires) will be performing along with organists Doug Spreeman and Brent Tucker.

Handbells are a rich tradition within the music ministry of First Baptist Church, originally purchased in 1963 for the occasion of our church's 75^th anniversary.  From the beginning 2-octave set of handbells (which was the first set of Schulmerich handbells in Canada at the time), our set has now grown to 5 octaves (C3 to C8), as well as a 5-octave set of Schulmerich handchimes.  We added the lower 6th octave of Malmark chimes within the past year, and are now enjoying the extra depth of sound and expansion of our repertoire.  Come and see what you think!

Senior Handbell Choir has a new name...

Our Senior Choir has a new name as of June 2008.  They have chosen the name Acclamation.  Acclamation means to express praise publicly and enthusiastically, which is what this choir does each time they lead us in ministry.  Congratulations choir and well chosen!
