We live to Care for One Another in the Name of Christ

  • Through enabling others to grow
  • Through recognizing, developing, and using our spiritual gifts
  • Through serving and sacrificing to meet one another's needs

Our Lord Jesus "made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant" (Phil 2:7) and expects us to develop the same attitude. Our goal at First Baptist is to build up a family in which each of our members develops this attitude.

Caring Ministry

Our Caring and Membership ministry team has taken on the responsibility of caring for our members, adherents, and any people who come in contact with our Church. Through various ministry teams, people are ministered to in hospitals, care homes, at home, and wherever or whenever special needs or emergencies arise. If you have concerns please contact Pastor Judy at 263-5911.

Growth Groups

Warm hospitality and fellowship is provided in small groups. People meet in homes city-wide during the week for the study of the Scriptures, prayer, and mutual support.

Baptist Men

An active group of men meet regularly for Saturday morning prayer breakfasts, monthly dinners with special guests, annual retreats, annual curling bonspiels, golf tournaments, softball, volleyball, and work parties for the church or Gull Lake camp.

Women's Ministry

Several groups, each with a unique history and emphasis, meet throughout the year to focus attention on the mission challenges around our world, to become informed about them, to uphold these challenges in prayer, and to inform others about them. You are welcome to join any of them: Malcolm, Jean Gordon, Norman Dabbs, or the Home Mission Group

Mafia

Active groups of people, aged 50+, who enjoy an assortment of social outings that help people get to know one another. These usually occur on Friday nights.

Camera Club

On the third Saturday of each month you can join in with a group of active "shutter bugs" who will either be on a photographic excursion or enjoying a showing.

Open Door Fellowship

The Open Door Fellowship is our program for senior adults. It is run in cooperation with the City of Calgary and the Family and Community Support Services. Our senior adults enjoy a wide variety of activities, which include: exercise classes, bridge, music appreciation, walking tours, line dancing, bus trips, afternoon teas, and monthly luncheons. Our senior adults are an active, creative group who deeply enjoys life.

Premarital Counseling

In response to the pressures that face today's families, premarital counseling is provided for couples anticipating marriage. These sessions enable couples to begin their marriages on a firm foundation.

Counseling

Individual, marital, and family counseling is provided upon request. Our approach is Christ-centred and person-oriented.

Prayer Chain

Concerns are upheld regularly in prayer by a group of intercessors that believe in the power of prayer. You can get your concern on the prayer chain by phoning the church office.
